History
Booker’s was crafted by Booker Noe, the grandson of Jim Beam, and 6th generation Master Distiller at Jim Beam. Booker’s was one of the first bourbon credited with establishing the super-premium bourbon category, and is a member of the Beam Small Batch Bourbon Collection, along with Basil Hayden, Baker’s, and Knob Creek.
Booker Noe was the Master Distiller for 40 years, and knew every barrel of bourbon in all the different rackhouses. He sought to craft a bourbon that was straight from the barrel, uncut, and unfiltered. This is truly bourbon in its purest and most unadulterated form. Booker’s legacy continues to this day, with his handwriting featured on every label.
Grain Recipe
Booker’s along with Jim Beam, Baker’s, and Knob Creek use the same proprietary traditional bourbon mash bill, which is not disclosed.
Distillation
Although the Jim Beam distillery makes several different brands of bourbon, they are all produced in same column still, which is 60ft tall and 6 feet wide, and stands around 6 stories high. There are also 22 fermenters at the distillery. Booker’s is distilled to around 125 proof (62.5% ABV), and enters the barrel uncut at the same proof.
Maturation
The barrels used for Booker’s bourbon come from the center of the rackhouse, the 5th and 6th floors (out of 9), where the temperature and humidity combines to create a perfect environment for aging great bourbon. Booker’s is the smallest batch produced at the Jim Beam distillery, aged between 6-8 years in new charred white oak American barrels. Booker’s is always bottled at barrel proof strength, uncut with water following maturation, and unfiltered.
