““Since I stepped down from Stranahan’s, I’ve been working with Proximo on a new venture. We’re been developing a new whiskey – something completely different from what I made before. This time our plan was to make something that had more of a bourbon profile, but wasn’t so mellow or sweet, like your standard Maker’s or Jack. It had to be different, it had to be good, it had to be affordable, and we had to be able to make enough of it keep people happy.””
Overview
After the success of Stranahan’s, Jess Graber looked to create something new and different. TinCup is a blend of two different American whiskeys, each aged in new charred white oak barrels with a #3 char. TinCup is a “high rye” American whiskey with a mash bill of 64 % corn, 32 % rye, 4 % malt barley, composed of four and five year old whiskeys, distilled and aged in Indiana, and blended with a small amount of Stranahan’s American Single Malt Whiskey. TinCup also is cut with El Dorado rocky mountain spring water. Tin Cup, Colorado is an old mining town in Gunnison County, which is on the western side of the Colorado Rockies, and named for the old cups the miners would drink from. The name TinCup and the cap on the bottle are both nods to this piece of Colorado history.

This expression uses an undisclosed rye mash bill, aged for 3 years in Indiana, and cut with the same Rocky Mountain water to 90 proof (45 % ABV).
